NINETY EIGHT :: SCAD FILM

SCAD Student Film by Trevor Jenkins, Savannah, GA USA.

"You gotta start me up!" is one of my favorite Mick Jagger-isms, and this Super 8 film was my start me up! We had 'movie night' all the time growing up, where Dad would pull out the projector, the pull down screen, and show us his 8mm and Super 8 films he had taken while away at sea. He would narrate as they didn't have a soundtrack, and we would listen. Now enrolled in film school, the light-bulb of this-is-what-I-want-to-do and feel-it's-my-calling moment came to me and I decided to grab my Dad's super 8 camera from the 70's and make this little film, my first film on film. Michael was the son of the Linda, the woman who supervised our cafeteria and made sure we were well fed and ready to deal with the day! The sound results from sticking an ME 66 shotgun mic on an electrical conduit. This was to be the 'ominous' sound calling the boy to church. Well, it went to some festivals for experimental film, won some awards, and gave me the confidence to get started on my journey as a filmmaker. Thank you.
